HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

We run a range of appointments for doctors, nurses and our health care assistant. We have routine appointments and clinics, telephone consultations and emergency daily appointments.

All surgeries are by appointment only. Please make an appointment by telephoning Devizes 722278.

We have two lines, which are very busy, but we will answer as quickly as possible.

An appointment is for one person only. A responsible adult should accompany children under 14. If you are unable to keep an appointment or no longer require it, please cancel it so that someone else can be offered it in your place.

PLEASE DO CONTACT US IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO KEEP AN APPOINTMENT SO SOMEONE ELSE CAN BE OFFERED IT IN YOUR PLACE

EMERGENCY DAILY APPOINTMENTS

If you need to be seen urgently on the same day we run a triage system.

The receptionist dealing with your appointment may need to ask you a few questions, according to protocols, to arrange an appointment with the doctor or nurse, or arrange for the doctor or nurse to talk to you on the telephone.

Clinically urgent callers will be seen on the same day, but it may not be by your own doctor.

Please do not abuse this service. The appointments are limited and you should take the first appointment offered to you.

TELEPHONE ADcontact.jpgVICE

If you wish to speak to your doctor you may be asked to ring back to avoid interrupting consultations. The best times are 11.00 - 11.30 am and 16.15-16.45 pm.

Alternatively if you are prepared to leave your telephone number the doctor will ring you back as soon as possible.

PHARMACY FIRST CAMPAIGN

This is an active campaign between the Devizes Practices, Wiltshire Health Authority and Local Pharmacists to encourage patient with straightforward or self-limiting illnesses to consult the local Pharmacist initially for advice and possible treatment rather than immediately asking for an appointment at the surgery.

Our local Pharmacists are highly trained professionals with a wealth of knowledge that will often be of benefit to you. You may however find the following information and advice about common symptoms and illnesses a useful reminder of the appropriate steps to take even before thinking of consulting the Pharmacist.
